Dawn Hunter serves as a program manager in the Education & Outreach group at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin. Since 2016, she has focused on recruitment and outreach at Title I schools along with program implementation of TACC’s K-16 outreach programs. As a core team member of TACC’s Education & Outreach summer programs, Ms. Hunter administers program recruitment, outreach, planning and logistics of targeted student programs, student residential housing and safety, employment and management of camp counselors, and is the primary designated camp director for TACC’s Youth Protection Program. She also leads, creates and advances student experiences by identifying and securing funding for programs. Ms. Hunter has presented at multiple conferences and was the recipient of the Million Women Mentors – Texas, Educator Stand Up Award in 2018. From 2009 – 2016, she spent four years leading and implementing activities for afterschool programs in the capacity of an assistant director, curriculum specialist, peer mentor and recreational counselor. Ms. Hunter also led recruitment for UT’s Equal Opportunity in Engineering program, where she created curriculum, managed and directed residential programs. Prior to 2009, Ms. Hunter spent over 10 years as a Customer Service Engineer in the automotive industry.
