We are excited to be part of the Kapor Center‘s inaugural $1 Million Tech Done Right (TDR) Challenge grant competition. This Challenge identified ten social impact organizations who are building a more diverse and inclusive tech economy locally and nationally. We will be developing data science executives over the next year with our collaborator, Black Women in Science and Engineering (BWISE).
We are tackling the data science talent gap. We will offer targeted programming to increase knowledge of core data science concepts by participants, increase awareness and interest in data science career pathways and increase networking capacity with tech professionals at various stages in careers, e.g., building community. Our learning goals are, as follows:
-
-
- Provide participants with introductory knowledge and skills in Python for data-intensive problem solving and scientific discovery;
- Identify career pathways to and incorporating data science; and
- Prepare participants for next-level data science curriculum.
-
This research collaboration will be led by Dr. Brandeis Marshall, a member of the blackcomputeHER leadership develop team and CEO/Founder of Dataedx Group.
