Khalia Braswell

Dr. Khalia M. Braswell is an award-winning technologist whose personal mission is to make social change using technology. Dr. Braswell graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Computer Science and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with an M.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Human-Computer Interaction. Dr. Braswell was a Presidential Future Faculty Fellow at Temple University, where she obtained her Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Science, Math, and Education Technology. Her research focuses on informal CS learning programs’ impact on Black middle and high school girls. Dr. Braswell is the Founder and Former Executive Director of INTech Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire girls and gender-expansive youth to create innovative solutions for social good. Dr. Braswell gave a TEDx talk highlighting ways to get more Black and Latinx girls into tech. Forbes, NBC, PBS, Essence, The Root, The Charlotte Observer, and Because of Them We Can have featured her work with INTech. As a speaker and moderator, she’s shared stages with notable leaders, including John B. King Jr., former U.S. Secretary of Education, and senior executives at Apple. She has also presented at Northwestern University, Apple, NAF, the Grace Hopper Celebration of Diversity in Computing, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
